Howard E. Lanam

	Howard E. Lanam, 79, of Elkville, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2001 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.
	Mr. Lanum was retired from the Army and had served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of DuQuoin.
	He was born October 21, 1922 in Wappapello, Mo., the son of James and Alma (Knodell) Lanam.  He married Elsie Grequrich on April 17, 1972 at Washington Park, Ill. 
	Surviving are his wife, Elsie Lanam of Elkville; two sons, Tom P. Lanam of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Michael Lanam of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three step-sons, Gene Shaw of Sparta, David Shaw and wife Debbie of St. Louis and Terry Shaw and wife Bev of Troy; one step-daughter, Sandy Colona and husband Rich of Troy and 12 grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents.
	Graveside services were Thursday, December 13 at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
	The Neal-McClure Funeral Home of DuQuoin was in charge of arrangements.
